In B-Town, two of the most popular names are Sussanne Khan and Gauri Khan. While many know Sussanne as Hrithik Roshan’s ex-wife, her fans admire her as a dedicated entrepreneur. Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s wife, is equally famous for creating spaces that exude elegance and opulence. But how much does it really cost to have your home designed by these star designers?

Sussanne Khan revealed fees per square foot

In a recent chat with Zerodha, Sussanne Khan opened up about her interior design business. “We charge a flat design fee per square foot. We don’t take commissions on what clients buy. For a 2,000 sq. ft. apartment, depending on the client’s budget, location, and choice of materials, fees range from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,000 per sq ft.”

She also explained her payment process, “I take 30% upfront before starting work and then create the design. Once they finalise it, I take money for the materials, and we do the work room by room.”For a 1,500 sq ft luxury apartment in Mumbai, this works out to a total of Rs 25–30 lakh.

Sussanne Khan recalls early business challenges

Sussanne also reflected on how she began her journey in interior design. “In 2011, we started The Charcoal Project. It was India’s first conceptual home store. Nobody had thought of it before everyone was selling furniture, but no one offered conceptual design.”She added, “In the beginning, I faced so much flak. People dismissed me as just another ‘celebrity interior designer’ because, in those days, everybody seemed to be becoming one. They didn’t know my backstory.”

Reports revealed Gauri Khan’s luxury fees

While Gauri Khan has not officially revealed her fees, reports give an idea of what to expect. According to Interiors A To Z, Gauri charges Rs 6 lakh for a basic consultation. Residential interior design projects can cost anywhere from Rs 30 lakh to over Rs 5 crore, depending on the scale.Luxury villa projects range from Rs 3 crore to upwards of Rs 10 crore, while commercial projects can range from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 20 crore. Gauri Khan also sells bespoke furniture, which can cost up to Rs 5 lakh. These figures vary depending on project size, materials, and customisation, and have not been officially confirmed by her team.

Gauri Khan spoke about the design journey

In a past interview with News18, Gauri reflected on her interior design journey. “Gauri Khan Designs launched in 2013. I took the plunge as a hobby, and before I knew it, it turned into a lifelong, fulfilling profession,” she shared.She added, “It’s been the result of a long-standing passion for interior design.”Gauri credits much of her growth to hands-on experience. “I’ve spent a fair share of time learning on the job.
