College football is back, and it didn’t take long for drama to unfold.
No. 25 Boise State went to South Florida for its season opener and was absolutely handled by the Bulls. USF was in control throughout, forcing three fumbles and stuffing Boise on several fourth-down conversion attempts to win convincingly, 34-7, in a result that’s damning for the Broncos’ hopes of returning to the College Football Playoff.

In the marquee game of the night, Dylan Raiola and Nebraska escaped in a close game in front of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce and Raiola’s idol Patrick Mahomes. The quarterback finished 33-of-42 passing for 243 yards and two touchdowns, but the Bearcats were in it throughout and had a chance to tie the game at the end before a late interception thrown by Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby.
In other action, NC State eked out a victory over East Carolina and Oklahoma State didn’t exactly look convincing in a 27-7 win over UT-Martin. Duke and Missouri blasted their Week 1 opponents.
See how it all shook out below.
