‘Black Bag’ movie stars Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender as spies
In Steven Soderbergh’s “Black Bag,” Michael Fassbender plays a British double agent whose lover (Cate Blanchett) might also be a turncoat.
Cate Blanchett has long been the queen of outfit repeating in Hollywood, and she’s done it again!
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, the two-time Oscar winner chose to rewear a chic black Armani Privรฉ dress โ which she first turned heads in at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards โ during Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Grazia” premiere at theย Venice Film Festival 2025.
For the 56-year-old Blanchett, repeating clothes never goes out of style. The “Elizabeth I” actress (who is a client of celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart) wore her 2024 Cannes Film Festival gold gown to theย 2025 Golden Globe Awards in January.
Stewart often says “it’s chic to repeat” when addressing the acting icon’s wardrobe selections.
In 2022, Blanchett repeated an Alexander McQueen dress from the 2020 Venice Film Festival, donning the dress at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles. Blanchett’s choice to outfit repeat has dated back over half a decade.
In 2020, Blanchett told Women’s Wear Daily that wastefulness is “in the foundation” of fashion, “but we’ve seen over the last decade (that) it used to be seasonal, now itโs trans-seasonal, multiseasonal, and brands are designing for outlet stores.”
She added: “When you the know the world is consuming 18 billion pieces of clothing a year, which is up 400% from a decade ago, you think, this is not working.”
“People say, ‘I bought it on impulse,’” Blanchett explained. “But no, it’s not an impulsive buy, it’s a compulsive buy. When compulsion takes over, therein lies the destruction of an industry.“
Her stylist Stewart said in a 2023 Instagram post that “even when selecting a red carpet look – she inspires me to think bigger and harder about our choices and the impact we can have” because “we stylists often get caught up in getting looks right off the runway.”
“But, as Cate says, great design is great design, and doesnโt stop being great right after itโs worn or shown on the runway,” Stewart continued.
