WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams were in action Thursday night.
In NAC Boys’ Soccer was the Lisbon Tournament Semifinal with St. Lawrence Central meeting Brushton-Moira.
Carson Fleury dumped the ball in the crease. Kayden Bushey drove home the goal: 1-0 Panthers.
Bushey fed Colton Curran, who drilled the close-range goal to put Brushton-Moira up 2-0.
The Panthers expanded the lead in the second half when Parker Russell connected on a pass to Bushey for another goal.
Russell scored the final goal, as the Panthers went on to defeat St. Lawrence Central 4-0.
In the other semifinal, Lisbon played host to Morristown.
The Green Rockets had the early scoring opportunities when Gaige-Michael Jimenez took the shot. It was Gavin Richardson with a save.
Will Pirie dumped the ball on the net, but Rocket keeper Coltyn Brooks saved in the scrum.
Despite multiple chances, this game remained scoreless through the first half. In the final eight minutes, Morristown’s Damien Young-Hollister connected for the game’s only two goals, lifting the Rockets to a 2-0 semifinal win.
In boys’ non-league soccer from Adams, South Jeff hosted Clinton.
South Jeff struck early as Nate Matteson fed Noah Perry in front, who buried the blast: 1-0 Spartans.
A bit later, it was Matteson sticking home the loose ball in front. The Spartans increased their lead to 2-0.
South Jeff goalie Julian Surber came up with the save here as South Jeff beat Clinton 4-1.
On the girls’ side, Indian River hosted Mexico in a non-league contest in Philadelphia.
Midway through the first half, the Wolves took the lead when Maddy Timmons tickled twine. 1-0 Indian River.
Ten minutes later, the Wolves expanded on their lead when Julia De La Cruz ripped yarn: 2-0 Indian River.
The Wolves go on to beat Mexico 6-2.
In Girls’ Frontier League soccer from Adams, South Jeff entertained Beaver River.
Natalie Roggie would score the lone goal, her first varsity goal, as Beaver River blanked South Jeff 1-0.
