Taylor Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce was the news heard around the world, and no one is happier for her than her lifelong inner circle. A day following the “Love Story” singer’s announcement, best friend Selena Gomez took to her Instagram Stories to share her excitement.

“When bestie gets engaged 😍” she wrote, sharing Swift and Kelce’s joint engagement post along with Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend” as the soundtrack.

Gomez also reshared a fan post that placed Swift’s engagement photo with Kelce next to Gomez’s engagement photo with Benny Blanco and brought back a tweet from 2009 when Swift wrote to Gomez: “@selenagomez Real love still happens sometimes. It’s not just something we make up when we’re nine. I have to believe that. You do too.” A fan wrote: “16 years later.”

Gomez and Swift have been close friends since they were teens starting out in music—and since Gomez famously dated Nick Jonas and Swift dated Joe Jonas (or “Mr. Perfectly Fine”). The “Lose You to Love Me” singer has even previously referred to Swift as her “only friend in the industry.”

Gomez’s reaction to Swift’s engagement is a full-circle moment. When the Only Murders in the Building star got engaged to Blanco in December 2024 and posted the news on Instagram, Swift quickly reacted in the comments section of her friend’s post. “Yes I will be the flower girl,” she wrote.
